At BackSmart we use a High Residency Support Foam on all of our memory foam mattresses. Because the base support foam is a very important component of any mattress, we designed our base foam to provide a firm and strong base underneath our memory foam layer. It is extremely durable yet comfortable and supportive.

Another important element in the structure of a memory foam mattress is the regulation of body temperature during sleep. Many people complained that our competitor’s mattresses caused them to sleep too warm. The tendency to become overheated on a conventional memory foam mattress is due to the closed cell structure inherent in all HR base foam.

To avoid creating the same problem for our customers, BackSmart, Inc. introduced an innovative and exciting new Channel Ventilation System to the market in 2008. The traditional “eggcrate airflow system” that is commonly used by our competitors is just what the name suggests. It is a piece of convoluted (eggcrate) foam that is put between two layers in a memory foam mattress. The problem with the standard convoluted design is that the glue intended to bond the peaks often slides down and bonds to the valley as well. This hinders air flow and makes it erratic at best.

Our unique Channel Ventilation System cuts channels from one side of the mattress to the other, which will keep the bed cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
